La tecnica del CUT-UP

di: V Linguistico / V Classico

The stylistic literary technique of the cut-up is based on cutting some words or phrases from a text, using them later to recompose a new work. The results, often, were unexpected and the periods took on different meanings from the original ones. The cut-up was born in the ’60s by two of the greatest exponents of the Beat Generation: William S. Burroughs and Brion Gysin. Moreover, in the ’70s also David Bowie began to use this technique to write his songs and he is not the only one: indeed, we remember artists such as Bob Dylan and Kurt Cobain.

ITALIANO

Here comes the sun.

A moment like this should be considered a gift to love you. Freedom has a price, the difficulty lies in understanding what really matters.

Little darling, it’s been a long cold lonely winter.
It is thanks to this period that we are rediscovering the beauty of a tree, the gracefulness of a breath of wind that passes through your hair and reassures you by giving you lightness, the rays of the sun that bring light and warm your soul, into your heart  and they make you feel less alone, certainly less alone, probably less alone than you might be in a crowd.

Here comes the sun.

The nature that yells at you: “look we’re on your side!  You have to learn to love me, at least to notice me every now and then … “.

Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting

And then you think that the change should start from yourself, maybe  pursuing happiness could be easy to achieve, the only thing I have to do is look for it in the little things; maybe  in those warm rays of the sun in the morning, in the puffs of wind on days that are hot, the waves of the sea that wet your feet.

Little darling, it seems like years since it’s been clear

The world is at your’s, nothing denies you to experience those simple moments of joy, even if short, but of pure joy in which the sight of the immense sky makes you invincible. Stop reading these words, get out there and enjoy every moment. Life is too short to complain. Start living the moment.

Here comes the sun, and I say It’s all right

diminuiti, manipolati, frugati. accoppati

“The sun shines for everyone”
The sun shines for everyone
but it does not shine in prisons
those who spend their holidays in the workshops
those who get warm in the churches in winter
those who are hired. fired, increased.
those who have never seen the sea

(Brigitta, Roberto, Leonardo, Valerio, Mattia, Robert e Alexandros – V Classico)

Poesia di riferimento: Shakespeare – Sonnet 28

How can I then return in happy light,
That am debarred the benefit of rest?
When day’s oppression is not eas’d by night,
But day by night and night by day oppressed,
And each, though enemies to either’s reign,
Do in consent shake hands to torture me,
The one by toil, the other to complain
How far I toil, still farther off from thee.
I tell the day, to please him thou art bright,
And dost him grace when clouds do blot the heaven:
So flatter I the swart-complexion’d night,
When sparkling stars twire not thou gild’st the even.
But day doth daily draw my sorrows longer,
And night doth nightly make grief’s length seem stronger.

Poesia di riferimento: Tired di Alan Walker Gavin James (2018)

I see those tears in your eyes
I feel so helpless inside
Oh, love, there’s no need to hide
Just let me love you when your heart is tired
Cold hands, red eyes
Packed your bags at midnight
They’ve been there for weeks
You don’t know what goodbye means
Just roll up a cigarette
Just forget about this mess
I’m waiting on the sidelines
From the sidelines
I see those tears in your eyes
And I feel so helpless inside
Oh, love, there’s no need to hide
Just let me love you when your heart is tired
If your ghost pulls you apart
And it feels like you’ve lost who you are
My love, there’s no need to hide
Just let me love you when your heart is tired
Just let me love you
Just let me love, just let me love
Just let me love you
Just let me love you when your heart is tired
And you whisper I’m alright
But I see through your white lies
But these walls don’t talk
And if they could, they’d say
Can’t hide the secrets
You can’t forget about this mess
I’m waiting on the sidelines
From the sidelines
I see those tears in your eyes
And I feel so helpless inside
Oh, love, there’s no need to hide
Just let me love you when your heart is tired

If your ghost pulls you apart
And it feels like you’ve lost who you are
My love, there’s no need to hide
Just let me love you when your heart is tired
Just let me love you
Just let me love, just let me love
Just let me love you
Just let me love you when your heart is tired
My love, those tears in your eyes
My love, so helpless inside
My love, there’s no need to hide
Let me love you when your heart is tired

Lost in the walls

Trying to forget about this mess
when your heart is tired
it feels like you’ve lost who you are
whisper  “alright”
but I feel so helpless inside
We can’t forget about this mess
you’ve lost who you are
and these walls don’t talk.
